{"id":1995,"date":"2023-08-08T22:06:35","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T14:06:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/?p=1995"},"modified":"2023-08-11T11:35:38","modified_gmt":"2023-08-11T03:35:38","slug":"extracting-files-from-thomson-reuters-filecabinet-cs-database","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/2023\/08\/08\/extracting-files-from-thomson-reuters-filecabinet-cs-database\/","title":{"rendered":"Extracting files from a Thomson Reuters FileCabinet CS database"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We recently had a user that had to extract Word and Excel documents from a Thomson Reuters FileCabinet CS database using\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/sbe_details.htm\">SQL Blob Export<\/a>.\u00a0 The user was helpful enough to send us a couple of samples of the raw data stored in the table, allowing us to inspect the data in detail.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out Thomson Reuters stores the files in a different manner to what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/sbe_details.htm\">SQL Blob Export<\/a> expected, so we had to make some adjustments to the export process.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning with version <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/sbe_details.htm\">SQL Blob Export<\/a> 6.1, you can now export items from your FileCabinet CS database.\u00a0 The same feature is found in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/siv8_details.htm\">SQL Image Viewer<\/a>.\u00a0 When you run a query to return the items, it will be shown as OLE Structured Storage packages.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1996\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson01.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"558\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson01.png 589w, https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson01-300x284.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 589px) 100vw, 589px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can then export the files using the export wizards.<\/p>\n<p>If you encounter a situation where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/sbe_details.htm\">SQL Blob Export<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/siv8_details.htm\">SQL Image Viewer<\/a> is unable to export your files, please send us an email at support@yohz.com.<\/p>\n<p>It would be very helpful to also attach a couple of samples of the rows that failed to be exported.\u00a0 To extract the data exactly as stored in the database in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/sbe_details.htm\">SQL Blob Export<\/a>, please do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>select the <strong>Extract bin files<\/strong> option on the <strong>Options<\/strong> page<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1997\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson02.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"863\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson02.png 863w, https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson02-300x104.png 300w, https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson02-768x266.png 768w, https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/thomson02-624x216.png 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 863px) 100vw, 863px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>once the export process has completed, you will find files with the .bin extension.\u00a0 Please send us a couple of those files so that we may check how the data is stored in your database.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fcbkbttn_like \"><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/2023\/08\/08\/extracting-files-from-thomson-reuters-filecabinet-cs-database\/\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\" layout=\"button\"  size=\"small\"><\/fb:like><\/div><div class=\"fb-share-button  \" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.yohz.com\/blogs\/2023\/08\/08\/extracting-files-from-thomson-reuters-filecabinet-cs-database\/\" data-type=\"button\" data-size=\"small\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We recently had a user that had to extract Word and Excel documents from a Thomson Reuters FileCabinet CS database using\u00a0 SQL Blob Export.\u00a0 The user was helpful enough to send us a couple of samples of the raw data stored in the table, allowing us to inspect the data in detail.
