Sort using a summary value

By default, columns in the analysis table are sorted by the group columns.  In the example below, the rows are sorted first by State, then by City.

To sort using summary values, the summary value must be displayed at the group header level.  In our example, if we wanted to sort the rows by the Total sales value, select the summary item in the Sort on list on the Summaries customization page.

Once selected, both groups (State and City) are now sorted by the sales total in ascending order.

The sort indicators for both grouped columns now indicate that the sorting order is now based on the summary, in ascending order.

To sort the rows by the summary in descending order, click on the grouped column.  So if we wanted to sort the rows in descending total sales at the State grouping, click on the State column header.

To remove sorting by a summary value, select the (none) item in the Sort on list on the Summaries customization page.
