Exporting the image thumbnails and DICOM tag values to Excel (layout 1)

In this exercise, we will export our search results in tabular format to Excel spreadsheets, which looks something like this: The Excel spreadheet will contain the columns as the tabular layout, and also links to the source image files. In Excel, you can click on these links to open the image file in your DICOM viewer. To start off, let’s run this search query: modality = 'MR' You should see 24 rows listed in the results. Click on the Export all data button, then select the Export to Excel option. This opens the Export to Excel Workbook window. You can use most of the default values, and we will only discuss the more important options. On the Excel Workbook Properties page, enter the name of the Excel file we want to create. The rest of the settings determine how the worksheet is formatted. The Image and File Options page lets you choose how you want to display and copy your images. There are 3 options as to how you can display the images: displaying the images in the spreadsheet only displaying the images as a link in the spreadsheet displaying the images in the spreadsheet and as a link For the last 2 options, the DICOM image files will be copied into an images subfolder. Clicking on the link will then open the copied image in your registered DICOM viewer. In this way, if you wanted to share the spreadsheet, you can just copy the Excel file together with the images subfolder. Your peers can then still open the DICOM images easily.
