Updating images in your library

Top  Previous  Next

When you add images to your libraries, DICOM Search will first check if the image already exists in the library.  If it does, it does not add that image again.  If the images has been modified, it will update details of that image in the tags table.

Adding/updating images from files

When adding images from files, DICOM Search checks if it has already processed that image by first checking for a record in the tags table with the same file name, additional key value, and file size.

Adding images from databases

When adding images from databases, DICOM Search checks if it has already processed that image by first checking if there is an image with the same key field values in the tags table.  Note that the additional key value is also used to search for existing images.

Once a match has been found, the image size is compared.  If the image size is identical, DICOM Search ignores the database record.  If the image size differs, DICOM Search will update the tags database with the new tag values stored in the database record.
